Conducting quick daily inspections of your machines, will ensure that they operate efficiently. Diagnosing potential problems early could save you time and money, before they result in expensive repairs
Follow this quick check list for daily inspections, recommended by Greg Worley,Market Development Engineer for Caterpillar
Tyres and tracks:
- Look for gouges and cuts, as well as bent rims or damaged idlers
- Check to see that tires are at the correct pressure and that tracks are properly aligned
- Clean tracks, idlers and undercarriages to reduce wear and extend life
Cooling and hydraulic systems:
- Inspect hydraulic connections and reservoirs
- Examine the engine compartment for oil and coolant leaks
- Check for damaged hydraulic hoses, lines, seals, cylinders and cylinder rods
Bucket teeth and cutting edges:
- Ensure that they are securely attached and in good condition
- Inspect the teeth on Work Tool attachments, like landscape tillers, trenchers and stump grinders
Fluid levels:
- Check the engine oil, fuel, hydraulic fluid and engine coolant.
